Brain-based Learning
Research from neuroscience and cognitive science has been influential on the teaching and learning of gifted/talented students. This research may prove especially powerful for under performing or disengaged gifted students. It is essential for educators to be aware of the implications of brain research, and how to best interpret the findings to meet the needs of gifted/talented students. This session synthesizes relevant research findings, important brain-learning basics, and the qualitative differences among kinds of learning experiences. Additionally, a menu of effective learning techniques that can greatly enhance cognitive and meta-cognitive development of gifted/talented students are provided.

Differentiated Instruction
The philosophy of differentiated instruction and learning is the underpinning of effective practices that can improve student achievement. To truly differentiate the learning environment, teachers must proactively plan respectful learning opportunities that engage the learner enough to make sense of the information and to create new forms of knowledge.

Creative Thinking
Creativity is the ability to solve problems or find solutions by thinking "outside the box." For children to develop creativity adults need to provide enriched environments that are stimulating and supportive so new ideas can emerge.

This workshop/session will assist teachers and schools in building a greater understanding of creative and critical thinking skills and how to apply them to lesson planning.

Using Gifted Strategies for ALL Learners
This workshop/session presents multiple teaching and learning strategies developed in the field of gifted education, which can be use in the regular classroom with ALL learners.

Working WITH Parents of Gifted/Talented/Creative...or just really smart kids!
Parents of high ability children can sometimes be very demanding. This workshop will help teachers and schools work with parents of high ability children to improve the educational setting and parent-school relationships.
